Over Gallery Intussen
Intussen Gallery emerges as a new cultural destination within De 1800 Roeden. The gallery aims to serve as a sanctuary for both Dutch and international culture, where art acts as a means of dialogue between people of different backgrounds. It is our vision to offer new opportunities to communities that remain underrepresented in the larger cultural landscape of the city, holding space indiscriminately for people of all origins, races, sexual orientations, and religions. Intussen caters to the curious, those who long to listen, watch, smell, and experience other ways of being. The gallery is positioned amidst the lush gardens of Amsterdam West and uses this backdrop to propose an artistic program in symbiosis with nature, inviting guests to reflect on their relationship with the Pachamama, Mother Earth. Intussen was conceived as an open garden, where diverse perspectives may flourish alongside one another and new modes of coexistence between individuals and the natural world can take root. Through artistic exploration, we sow seeds that cultivate compassion and solidarity.

KIRILLA MIHAI
Zaterdag 24 Januari 2026
The series represents one of my core beliefs: a painting needs contrast to create drama or visual tension, which translates into a narrative.
The combination of an accentuated black background and minimal color emphasis gives this belief great weight; therefore, I developed a technique that puts the theoretical method into practice almost literally.
The technique is a hybrid of drypoint etching and brushwork on a controlled surface of charcoal dust, thinned with turpentine.
Charcoal and acrylic paint are used as materials to create the contrasting narrative according to the basic principle: light and dark, knowledge versus ignorance, good versus evil.
The color element exists within a black-and-white environment, where perceived autonomy depends solely on its surroundings.
Once this framework is understood, the final step follows: the spiritual, where universal interpretation comes into play.
Kirilla Mihai, born in Romania in 1990 and based in Zaandam, Netherlands, is a muralist and painter with over eleven years of experience. His work spans murals and canvas, exploring diverse themes and styles where color, composition, and visual narrative are central
